Get away from it all! This 1250 sq ft 2 bedroom. 2 bath one-owner home was completed in 2004. It has been used only 3 months a year and therefore is lightly used and in “like-new” condition. It is situated on a private wooded 1.2 acre lot in Cherokee Hills, a small subdivision of similar cabins, adjacent to the Little River Canyon National Park Preserve. (www.nps.gov/liri) The Preserve is on Lookout Mountain in the southernmost extension of Appalachian Mountains in Northeast Alabama, within an hour or two of Birmingham and Chattanooga TN. Little River Canyon claims to be the deepest canyon east of the Mississippi, and is surrounded by a pristine watershed that drains into Weiss Lake, a popular fishing and boating destination.
This home is in immaculate condition. A principal feature is the natural stone Heatilator fireplace (which has never been used!) The great room, dining area, and kitchen all have vaulted ceilings. The living room floor is solid oak and the bedrooms are carpeted. The open floor plan separates the bedrooms from the central living area. The laundry and pantry are a step away from the kitchen and the second bath can be accessed directly from either the kitchen or the second bedroom. The master suite includes double closets and a master bath with both shower and tiled Jacuzzi. The interior finishes are clean and simple, ready for you to add your own personal touches.
The cabin is set back from the road on a level, wooded lot. You only need see your neighbors when you want to! Seven of the eight neighboring cabins are owner-occupied and one is a rental. There is very little traffic past the cabin because no one lives beyond the cabin toward the cul-de-sac. The cedar logs on the front and the back porch give the cabin a rustic façade. Painted siding on the other three sides of the cabin minimizes the exterior maintenance. The 14’ x 20’ cedar screened in porch is complete with ceiling fans and total privacy. There is plenty of space for eating, relaxing and enjoying the sights and sounds of the surrounding forest without the bugs. There is plenty of room for a future hot tub, too! The cabin has city water which eliminates the hassle of pump maintenance. The HVAC (heat pump) keeps the house comfortable year round.
The cabin is a 5 minute walk to the Little River Canyon Rim Road and Eberhart Point and Weaver Point canyon overlooks are only a 10-15 minute walk from the property. Little River Canyon is home to world-class whitewater kayaking. The steep sandstone walls rising 500-600 feet above the river, providing outstanding rock climbing opportunities. Shopping, golf and medical care are available in Fort Payne, a few miles to the west.
Schools serving this neighborhood are Ruhama Elementary, Ruhama Middle School and Fort Payne High School.
Tucked into the woods along the canyon, this property is perfect for a vacation get-away, a permanent home or possibly a vacation rental for weekend kayaking, hiking, rock climbing or just relaxing.
